On 31 December 2016, the International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) ceased and was then replaced by the Research Training Program (RTP) from 1 January 2017.  

The RTP gives block grants, on a calendar annually basis, to higher education providers (HEPs) to support both domestic and international students undertaking Research Doctorate and Research Masters degrees, known as higher degrees by research (HDRs).

About the Award: The Research Training Program (RTP) scheme is administered by individual universities on behalf of the Department of Education and Training. Applications for RTP Scholarships are made directly to participating universities. Various university has its own mode of application and selection process, contact your university of choice directly to discuss how to apply for the RTP scheme.

Eligibility:

RTP scholarships are open to domestic and international students enrolled in an accredited HDR course at an Australian HEP.
Other eligibilities are decided by participating universities
Number of Awards: Not specified

Value of Award: Students can be offered RTP scholarships for one or more of the following:

tuition fees offset
general living costs
allowances related to the ancillary cost of research degrees.
Duration of Award: Two (2) years for a research masters degree and Three (3) years for a research doctorate degree.
